Bay Area Council Scholar

Heather Nelson is a Bay Area Counil Scholar Intern with the Bay Area Family of Funds. She is currently working on a project to expand the services and resources provided to Bay Area Scholars through engagement with various Bay Area Council members. She is co-coordinating the implementation of a formal Bay Area Scholar externship and internship program, as well as providing administrative and research support for the Lusk Center’s Ross Program in Real Estate.
Heather is a junior studying History and Anthropology at U.C. Berkeley and a member of the first class of Bay Area Scholars in 2006. The focus of her historical studies at Berkeley is centered primarily on 20th century urban America and more generally, American studies. She is a Bonner Leader with the Cal Corps Public Service Center where she works on education reform in local Berkeley schools. Recently she traveled to New Orleans with 70 other Cal students to participate in and witness various re-building projects. Heather plans to return to New Orleans next summer as a trip leader and non-profit intern.
Heather splits her time between her homes in San Carlos and Berkeley, and in her free time enjoys taking dance classes, reading historical novels, and eating Indian food.
