Ken Regalia is Controller for Bay Area Council and Bay Area Council Foundation. He oversees and directs the financial, human resource, IT and administrative functions of the organizations. He collaborates with the policy, membership and events staff to provide guidance, support and a high degree of accountability and control.
Ken brings over 35 years of financial and operating experience to the organization in both the profit and non profit sectors. He started his career at Arthur Andersen, San Francisco, followed by an 18 year career with the Southern Pacific Companies in both the Finance and Operating Departments. His final position as Senior Director of Internal Audit ended when the Union Pacific acquired SP and moved corporate headquarters to Omaha, NE. He subsequently joined American President Lines, Oakland, CA for 3 years as a consultant performing business reviews at various APL worldwide locals including China and Latin America. Tired of the travel, he spent the next 8 years with the San Francisco Newspaper Agency/ which jointly operated both the SF Chronicle and SF Examiner. He was responsible for the revenue cycle of the business to include advertising, revenue reporting, billing, collection and circulation. He stayed on thru the Hearst acquisition of the Chronicle and divestiture of the Examiner until the Bay Area Council Controller opportunity arose.
Ken is a local native, whose family on both sides, dates back 3 generations in the Bay Area. He grew up in Marin County, attended local schools, graduated from California State University, Sonoma with a BA in Accounting and later a MBA from Golden Gate University. He belongs to various accounting professional organizations and has been active as a lecturer and speaker in both the professional and university setting.
