Carlton Sloan
Receptionist/Administrative Assistant

Carlton Sloan is the voice you hear when you call us and he is the one who greets you when you visit our office.   Behind the scenes, Carlton assists the COO in facilities maintenance, human resources and data management as well as provides administrative and production support for the organization's program managers and consultants. Carlton also works with the Controller and the Accountant in the development, fine-tuning and management of our accounts receivables and payables accounts, payroll and banking procedures.  (Such is the nature of a well-established, successful, growing organization.)

He honed his administrative skills working for various public and private companies and organizations in and around the city of Chicago where he grew up.  One of his most rewarding life experiences was being a community organizer; training and providing technical assistance for public school parents, teachers, students and neighborhood residents in preparation for the institution of the 1989 Chicago School Reform Act that set up local school councils (LSCs) at each of its 500+ primary and secondary schools.  That experience also afforded him the opportunity of networking with local business and civic leaders who were devoted to improving public education in the "Windy City".  Eventually he was hired by the Chicago Board of Education where he worked directly for the principal and the newly instituted LSC of one of the system's top high schools, serving in an administrative capacity for several years.  Relocating to San Francisco in 1998, Carlton’s training expertise came in handy when he worked for the events production company responsible for the California AidsRide and the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day.

A native of South Miami, Florida, Carlton has also traveled extensively throughout the country as well as overseas, including England, France and the Dominican Republic.  He has a degree in Broadcast Media Arts and is an avid pop culture aficionado.
